Coen will join Kamelot on their North-American leg of the Silvertorn world tour as a replacement of keyboardist Oliver Palotai.
As many of you know, Simone and I are expecting our first child, who decided to make its entrance in the spotlight right when I wanted to tour with my band, so instead of making this part of the tour, I will be here welcoming our new addition to the Kamelot family! The good news is: A good friend and fantastic musician will take my place behind the keys - Coen Janssen from EPICA. Since we toured already many times together and he knows the songs by heart he´s without doubt the best choice for the job. I wish him all the best and success; he will have a great time with my band mates from KAMELOT and is a fantastic performer. I will be back on stage for the European tour in November, with new skills like fast diaper changing, baby rocking or lullaby singing. See you there!"
Thanks for your support!!
Hello dear Kam-nation,
I am absolutely honored to have been asked to fill in the spot for one of my favorite musicians in one of my favorite bands. As you might know, Oliver replaced me when Epica was on tour and I was having my first child. A moment in life which you do not want to miss… So I’m very glad to be able to return the favor!!I clearly recall the moment I heard Kamelot’s music for the first time. A friend gave me a tape of “The Fourth Legacy” and I was immediately struck by the atmosphere and the haunting melodies of that album. Who knew I would be meeting them a few years later, support them on the road with my own band (named after that other album) and getting to know them very well. Imagine how excited I am to share the stage on a full tour!!
Four members of Epica will be featured in the first ever Rock Opera Videogame Karmaflow!
Karmaflow will be an immersive 3D platform/puzzle adventure game featuring several rock/metal singers, a band and the world famous Dutch Metropole Orchestra. The game is a project led by Ivo van Dijk, drummer and composer for Xystus and longtime friend of Epica, best known for his Rock Opera "Equilibrio" on which Simone had a leading role.
Arien had already been confirmed playing the drums for the soundtrack and now also Coen is confirmed playing the piano. Also both Mark and Simone will be a part of the cast of singers for the game and soundtrack alongside great names like Henning Basse (MaYaN, a.o.) Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) and Marc Hudson (Dragonforce).
Karmaflow is raising money through a crowdfunding campaign to be able to realize this amazing project. Be sure to check it out and contribute to this unique project. CLICK HERE TO HELP
Our show at Graspop on the 30th of June marked the end of the "Requiem for the Indifferent" touring cycle. We would like to thank all our loyal fans who have, once again, carried Epica to the next level. Our world-tour promoting "Requiem for the Indifferent" has given us a ton of wonderful new memories. We played a lot of new places like Australia, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Belarus and Dubai and welcomed new fans at every one of the 100+ shows of this world-tour. A new milestone for us was reached during Retrospect, the celebration of our 10th anniversary! We will never forget being on stage with this huge orchestra and choir in front of the 4500 fans from all over the world.
As you know we will take a step back from playing live shows for the upcoming months since Simone & Oliver and Coen & Linda are expecting children.
During this period we will be finalizing our live CD, BluRay/DVD "Retrospect", which will be released in the autumn of this year. Besides that we are in the pre-production phase of the 6th EPICA studio album which we will start to record at the end of this summer and which will be released in spring 2014.
We can't wait to share the Retrospect show and our new music with you all and we hope to see you on the road in 2014!!
As some of you might already have seen on Epica’s final show this year at the Graspop festival, Coen has cut off his hair. One of the reasons, which helped him made this decision, is that there is still a good use for long hair once you’ve cut it! Coen will donate his hair to “Stichting Haarwensen” (the hair-wish foundation). This organisation uses donated hair to construct wigs for children who lost their hair through chemotherapy or other diseases that cause hair-loss.
Stichting Haarwensen or similar foundations in your area could use all the hair they can get so when you think of cutting yours, consider donating it to these children!
Coen: My hair has traveled the world but I couldn’t think of a better final destination than this one!

We are happy to announce that Simone is pregnant!

However this does not mean Epica won't do anything!
Our Retrospect live-DVD will be released upcoming fall. Furthermore, during the second half of 2013 Epica will start working on a brand new record which will be released in 2014.
We are looking forward to see you all at the remaining shows this year and will be back next year with a new CD, stronger than ever!
We are excited to announce that we will perform in United Arab Emirates for the first time in our career. On the 7th June we will perform at the Dubai Rock Festival which takes place at the Dubai World Trade Center Arena . We will perform alongside Yngwie Malmsteen, Dark Tranquillity and Myrath.
