EPICA Retrospect 2014!

Oh what a year it’s been! 2014 is coming to an end and there seems so much to look back upon. Let me take you through a couple of highlights…

While we were wrapping up the recording of what would be our new album, we raised over €2,000 for the good cause at the beginning of this year. In these times it’s great to see that people still want to make the world a better place and care for the underprivileged.

We released The Quantum Enigma in May 2014. During the sold out release show we integrally played our 6th studio album, and did some. We also played some exclusive acoustic sessions for a select audience. Good fun and a great way to get closer to our die-hard fans! Breaking our old chart records, we knew that The Quantum Enigma would become what we aimed for: a revised EPICA, a fresh start, a new chapter in the history of the band.

During the festival season we saw how the new songs turned many metalheads into EPICA fans and how we – as a band – stormed those stages with passion and dedication. All of us were so happy with the new album, and more than ever before we wanted “our voice” to be heard.

We were ready to go back to our beloved club shows and play for our fans worldwide again. So there we went, on a plane to Latin America, to pay a visit to some of our most dedicated fan bases we have in the entire world. And yep, they were loud, they were numerous, they banged their heads from the first second till the last! More people came to see us, lots of younger fans, new faces, and familiar faces. Things that put smiles on our faces.

A little bummed about the cancellation of the North American support tour we were about to start, we returned home, charged the batteries, released the video for “Victims of Contingency” and went on our most successful European tour we’ve ever done. Sold out shows, wild crowds, anything we could wish for really!

So here we are now, enumerating the things that made 2014 memorable. Trying to put into words how blessed we feel, how great it is to be able to do what we do.

Forget those facts I just talked about for a second, and imagine how it would feel when you’d make many people happy across the globe by doing your passion with passion, getting back buckets of energy while doing your “job”, receiving tons of positive messages. That’s a glimpse of how every EPICA member is feeling at this moment.

And the best part of it? There’s more to come! In some days we’ll play our first show in India, we’re raising money for charity again, we’ll tour a whole more year allover the world, etc. Exciting times for sure!

The most appropriate thing to say now is THANK YOU! Thanks for your support, thanks for coming out to our shows, for buying our album, for letting us know what you think about what we do. Thanks for being the greatest fans out there!

Happy Holidays!
